Chapco, Inc. Installs State-of-the-Art
6000 Watt Laser Cutting Machine, Trumpf TruLaser 5060
May 2006
Chester, CT - Chapco, Inc., in keeping with its longstanding tradition of staying at the cutting edge of technology, has announced that it
has taken delivery of a New 6000 Watt Trumpf Laser Cutting Machine in May of
2006. This machine, the only one of its kind in New England, will greatly increase the capacity and efficiencies of Chapco, Inc.'s laser cutting department. The Trumpf
5060 is capable of handling a 5' X 10' sheet and can cut up to 1" thick steel, 0.8" thick stainless steel
and 0.5" aluminum. This new machine, working with Chapco's current forming and welding capabilities, will allow its customers to think unconventionally in terms of the thickness of metal components and assemblies that are possible.
The superior edge quality, cut tolerances and cutting speeds offered by this
machine far surpass current plasma and waterjet technologies.
Accurpress Advantage Press Brake!!
December 2005

Chapco has installed a new 12ft - 160 ton press brake. The Advantage press
brake delivers +/- 0.0004" repeat accuracies via a Proportional Valve Hydraulic
System. A Dual Ram Feedback system, with encoders mounted at each end of the
Accurpress, measures the bending cycle and compensates the ram accordingly when
unequal forces are applied across the length. With this advanced
bending system, Chapco is able to handle your large difficult parts with ease.
Aluminum Spot Welding
with the Amada ID40ST Precision
Spot Welder!!
October 2006

We are pleased to announce the addition of New Spot Welding capabilities with
our Amada ID40ST Spot Welder. This machine is capable of providing clean
strong welds in Aluminum, Stainless and Galvanized materials, with 30,000 Amps
of welding power.
This machine has a 32" throat depth and we have set it up to handle large panels
as well as smaller parts.
Virtek Laser QC!!
November 2005
Chapco has greatly improved our in process inspection capabilities with
the
addition of a Virtek Laser QC - 2D inspection system. This machine is an
integral part of our punching and laser area, allowing the operators to obtain
first article inspections of the flat blanks within minutes of cutting them.
With this capability, we are able to greatly improve our throughput in the
cutting area, while reducing rejects and in process losses. The flat
blanks are placed on the glass surface and the laser raster scans the part and
does a comparison with a DXF file that has been downloaded from engineering.
A color coded plot is automatically generated illustrating any variances out of
tolerance on the blank.
Full Solidworks Implementation!!
Summer 2006

Chapco's engineering and programming capabilities have been enhanced with the
addition of 3 seats of Solidworks Professional. This full implementation
allows us to improve quality and the level of services we can provide through
the powerful tools for sheet metal parts, assembly modeling, animation,
rendering, analysis, documentation and database management. Solidworks
2007 allows the import and export of virtually all CAD formats, and we now
convert all customer drawings to this database prior to programming.
We maintain proficiency in AutoCAD and CadKey for our legacy parts that are in
our system.
Strippit Global 20 CNC turret punch press is in full production!!
August 2002
This state of the art machine has greatly increased our punching capabilities and efficiency. Engineered for high productivity, this 30 station hydraulic punch press delivers 20 metric tons of punching force in .250" thick material at full production speed. The machine has allowed us to reduce set-up times, provided us with more flexibility, and improved uptime with minimal operator intervention. Our machine also includes an automatic load/unload system that can handle 48" X 96" sheets and reduce manual worksheet handling time by as much as 80%.
